Rogue River Hellgate Jetboat ExcursionsHellgate River Boat Excursions

The Northwest’s #1 River Trip

Hellgate Jetboat Excursions draws nearly 85,000 people every season, which runs from May through September. Visitors from all over the world make Grants Pass’ Hellgate Jetboats their destination in order to board the propeller-less boat that is pushed by the hydro-jet that glides just inches above the water’s surface.

Local residents enjoy excursions as they enjoy themselves and entertain summer guests. Corporations often send groups to Hellgate for team-building exercises, as employee rewards and incentives, and to take the place of traditional company picnics.

Along the river, trained, educated and witty Hellgate pilots offer a narrated historic overview of the region and point out landscape features amid the most majestic scenery to line any waterway in the country. On every trip, pilots point to nearby wildlife such as deer, river otter, osprey and bald eagles flying overhead, guarding nests or perched on high branches.

Crater Lake National Park

Crater Lake National Park

Crater Lake

Just an hour’s beautiful drive from Jacksonville is Crater Lake National Park, Southern Oregon’s only national park, and one of only three in the state.

Crater Lake has inspired people for thousands of years. No place else on earth combines a deep, pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high; two picturesque islands; and a violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty, and an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom.

Artists have had a long relationship with this country’s national parks and have influenced their development. The Crater Lake Waltz, photography of Peter Britt, traditional art and dance of the Tribal communities, and hand-tinted photographs of Fred Kiser are but a few examples of ways that artists have reached a special place in the hearts of visitors to Crater Lake National Park.

Crater Lake National Park is one of America’s oldest national parks and has been a source of public enjoyment and inspiration for over 100 years. Millions of Americans have gazed on the sublime beauty of Crater Lake. But few realize that under this beautiful veneer lies an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom; a place that draws scientists, teachers and students to investigate, instruct and learn from and about our natural world. From scenery to science and education, the Park’s value to society is expanding.
