Historic Downtown Jacksonville
Nestled among rolling hillsides of evergreens at the entrance to the Applegate Valley Wine Country lies the historic town of Jacksonville.
Having preserved its gold rush roots from the 1800s, this is one of few towns able to boast the designation of National Historic Landmark. Take in a little of our history by strolling the old cemetery, or riding the trolley to view the many historic homes and landmarks.
The quaint brick and wooden buildings now house an eclectic mix of shops, plentiful restaurants, spas, and unique lodging— not to mention fantastic wineries dotted along the valley. The Woodlands Trail System offers you a chance to take in the scenery, learn some history, and enjoy our fresh air.

Oh Oregon Frontier Park
Oh Oregon Frontier Park is a community river park, recreational and educational site, and a center for community celebration and family activities. Southern Oregon Historical Society Kid Time
This collaboration offers unique opportunities for your children and grandchildren! The Kid-Time facility at the History & Discovery center downtown now includes exhibits from the old Jacksonville Children’s Museum – Mercantile, Old Bank, Old Style Kitchen, Log Cabin, etc. in addition to their existing exhibits – WaterWays, BrainForest, Construction Zone, Toddler Town, LaBALLatory.
Applegate Wine Trail
Life slows a pace or two in the picturesque Applegate Valley. Small wineries with big wines can be found all along the meandering roads and rivers. Come meet our grape growers, step into their vineyards and share a glass of wine. Hailed as “Wine country the way it should be” by Sunset Magazine, if you haven’t visited the Applegate Wine Trail, then you haven’t truly experienced southern Oregon wine country.
Hellgate River Boat Excursions

Hellgate Jetboat Excursions draws nearly 85,000 people every season, which runs from May through September. Visitors from all over the world make Grants Pass’ Hellgate Jetboats their destination in order to board the propeller-less boat that is pushed by the hydro-jet that glides just inches above the water’s surface.

Crater Lake National Park

Just an hour’s beautiful drive from Jacksonville is Crater Lake National Park, Southern Oregon’s only national park, and one of only three in the state.
Crater Lake has inspired people for thousands of years. No place else on earth combines a deep, pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high; two picturesque islands; and a violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty, and an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom.
Artists have had a long relationship with this country’s national parks and have influenced their development. The Crater Lake Waltz, photography of Peter Britt, traditional art and dance of the Tribal communities, and hand-tinted photographs of Fred Kiser are but a few examples of ways that artists have reached a special place in the hearts of visitors to Crater Lake National Park.

Britt Music Festival Grounds
Britt Festivals, a non-profit organization, is the Pacific Northwest’s premier outdoor summer performing arts festival. Located in the historic 1850s gold rush town of Jacksonville, Oregon (USA), Britt presents dozens of summer concerts, featuring world-class artists in classical music, jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, world, pop and country music. Britt’s performance venue is a naturally formed amphitheater set among majestic ponderosa pines and native madrones on the beautiful hillside estate of 19th century photographer Peter Britt. Tens of thousands of music lovers travel from all over the West to enjoy Britt’s world-class performances, spectacular scenery and casual, relaxing atmosphere.
Britt is a convenient day’s drive from Seattle or San Francisco, located just five miles west of Southern Oregon’s largest metropolitan area, Medford, and only 15 miles north of Ashland and the world-famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Oregon’s only National Park, Crater Lake, is a scenic two-hour drive from Britt.
